Subject: Stopping Settler Violence in the West Bank

Dear President Biden and Secretary Blinken, I am writing to say thank you for your bold action imposing visa bans on Israeli settlers terrorizing Palestinians in the West Bank. With the Israeli government increasingly enabling this violence, the U.S. has an important role to play in curbing it. Since October 7, Prime Minister Netanyahu and his far-right government have increasingly ignored settler violence or abetted it by using incendiary language and giving settlers easy access to guns. Both state and settler violence in the West Bank have increased exponentially: The United Nations reported recently that since the Hamas attack, at least 256 Palestinians, including 67 teens and younger children, have been killed in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. The Israeli military has enacted strict curfews in Palestinian cities, and settler violence has forced around 1,000 Palestinians to flee their homes. As an American Jew who believes that Israelis and Palestinians have a right to self-determination and security, I believe that these extremist Israeli settlers threaten any possibility of a viable and peaceful future for both peoples. In my gratitude, I ask that you continue to pressure Israel to hold these violent extremists accountable. I ask that you also ensure that U.S. weapons and money will not go to enable settler violence in the West Bank.
